A Playful, Mountain-View Elopement in Squamish: Real Couples Story (2026)

If you're in the early stages of planning a Sea to Sky elopement, location is probably top of mind.
That’s why it makes so much sense to work with vendors local to your destination, who know the hidden gems.
This spot is a 10–15 minute walk from the parking lot - but it looks like you’ve hiked for hours!

When the sun crests the mountains and casts over where the mountains meet the sea, it’s truly magic. That’s where Jenny + Binh got married.

From Montreal to the Mountains: Jenny + Binh’s story.

A bride and groom standing upon a mountain top, with the Canadian mountains in the background, wearing a suit and white dress, embracing

While these two are from different corners of the US, Jenny and Binh’s story started in Montreal.

They’re both illustrators (what a cool job!) and in 2019, they found themselves working at the same studios. Not long after, the pandemic shifted everything - jobs changed, plans changed - and Jenny found an opportunity in Vancouver. Binh didn’t hesitate to join her!

They packed up and drove across the country together at the end of 2020, landing on the West Coast and building a life that’s been deeply intertwined ever since.

What struck me about these two is that they both work remotely, side-by-side, ALL day, then they spend all of their free time together too. And still can’t get enough!
It just works for them, and their bond is so evident.

When Binh proposed, it was after a long, nearly six-hour hike at the Grand Canyon, in a quiet, tucked-away spot along the rim - how stunning!

So, when it came time to get married, they knew a big wedding wasn’t for them… Being in front of a crowd, and with family spread out, an elopement felt like the right kind of space - something calm, meaningful, beautiful, outdoors, and a little bit removed from everything else.

They landed on their dating anniversary in early April, and reached out to me looking for a secluded spot somewhere in the Sea to Sky. Mountains, maybe a field, somewhere quiet. No big hike required, just somewhere that felt like their own little moment in time.

I knew just the spot!

Why Elope in the Sea to Sky?

One of my favourite parts of planning is location scouting - especially for couples like Jenny and Binh, who care more about how it feels than checking off a well-known spot. I recommended a tucked-away location with open views of the Sea to Sky - somewhere that felt expansive, but still private. Accessible, quiet, and surrounded by the kind of landscape they already love spending time in. And because it’s April in Squamish, we also had a solid Plan B ready to go, just in cse!

Their Squamish Elopement… The Day Itself….

Their wedding day fell over the Easter long weekend - a time when the weather can really go either way. But this time, it held! We stayed with Plan A, and the day unfolded in that calm, unhurried way that elopements tend to do.

Private Vows

We started in the forest, with just the two of them, so they could exchange their vows. This forest nook is SO CLOSE to their second location, and it’s nice to add variety to their gallery.

Once they’d shared their vows, we spent a few moments in the forest capturing some photos. Their inspiration photos included a lot of movement - those swishy, in-the-moment kinds of shots that feel less posed and more lived-in. And Jenny and Binh were READY for that - they were not shy to run around and spin, and they ran a few laps back and forth - Jenny mentioned she felt like she got the zoomies out and her nerves had disappeared with the running! 😂

Capturing the Moment

If you’re drawn to that kind of photography, movement helps bring it to life! 99% of my couples do feel a little awkward at the idea of having their photo taken, and a key is finding a photographer you connect with, who can provide guidance.

The lovely Kat Craats did this beautifully, offering direction when needed while still keeping everything feeling natural, bringing her sunshine-energy to the day. All photos in this post are by Kat!

Mountain-view ceremony

After their private vows, we made our way over to a nearby viewpoint for the ceremony. Their two best friends, Rae and Felix, joined us.

The ceremony itself was light, joyful, and full of smiles, glances, and little giggles.
I wove their story into the script in a way that felt natural and true to them.

Alongside officiating, I supported Jenny and Binh with the planning side of things - helping shape the day, building in flexibility, and connecting them with vendors who matched their vision. I timed the day so we’d finish with golden hour, a soft, warm sunset over the mountains.
